FAQ: Award Information

Where does the money raised from a our poetry contest go?

The Canadian Poetry Association fund raiser goes towards the publication
of our magazine POEMATA, and (chapbook) if requested by membership.

The cost of production factor’s in, as well as a fund raising venture where
a portion would be toward further poetic activities such as the following
year’s festival, website hosting, office mail box, etc. We are a volunteer
membership organization. We do not rely upon grants.

Poetry Contest Awards are as follows:

ie: 1st prize $100, 2nd $50, and 3rd $25

(with the stated understanding if not enough entries received, prize monies
will be adjusted according, $5/poem ~ 3 poems for $10, 100 poems needed
to be submitted, something along those lines, so in theory, anyway from
$330 - $500 would be generated, at a minimum, $175 for prize amounts,
the rest for fund raising, publication, website hosting, etc...)
